TANZANIA Prisons FC have reached a mutual agreement to part ways with head coach Zedekiah Evans Otieno, popularly known as “Zico,” as the club moves closer to appointing Shadrack ‘Fuso’ Nsajigwa as his replacement.
The decision was confirmed on Wednesday through a statement issued by the club’s chief executive officer, Godfrey Madegwa.
“The management of Tanzania Prisons Football Club wishes to inform the public that, by mutual agreement, it has reached a decision to part ways with the head coach, Zedekiah Evans Otieno,” the statement read.
“The management thanks Coach Otieno for his contribution and service during his time with the team and wishes him all the best in his future responsibilities.”
Otieno (pictured) joined Tanzania Prisons on July 24, 2025, ahead of the 2025/2026 season. During his tenure, he oversaw 14 Mainland Premier League matches, recording three wins, three draws and eight defeats. The Mbeya-based side scored eight goals and conceded 16 under his guidance.
Following that run, Tanzania Prisons currently sit 14th on the league table with 12 points, hovering just above the relegation zone and facing mounting pressure to improve results in the second half of the campaign.
The Kenyan tactician boasts a wealth of experience, having previously coached Kenyan giants Gor Mahia FC, as well as Sony Sugar FC, Posta Rangers FC and KCB FC. He also had a stint with Kenya’s national team, Harambee Stars.
Meanwhile, Championship side Transit Camp FC have already confirmed the departure of Nsajigwa, paving the way for his expected move to Mbeya. In a statement posted on the club’s official Instagram page, Transit Camp thanked the coach for his service and wished him success in his new role.
Nsajigwa leaves Transit Camp in strong form. After 19 matches in the 2025/2026 Championship season, the team sits fourth with 37 points, having registered 11 wins, four draws and four defeats. They scored 26 goals and conceded 17 under his stewardship.
A former Tanzania Prisons player, Nsajigwa later enjoyed a successful spell at Young Africans SC between 2006 and 2012. He also captained the national team, Taifa Stars, during his playing career.
