THE Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has said that hosting next week’s Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee meeting is a clear sign of the trust the continental body has in the country.

Speaking in an interview, TFF president Wallace Karia (pictured) said the CAF Executive Committee meeting, scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam, will bring together top officials of African football and stands as both an honour and a vote of confidence in Tanzania.

Karia said he is delighted that, under his leadership, Tanzanian football has recorded significant positive developments.

“The CAF Executive Committee meeting will be held on the 13th of this month in Dar es Salaam. All CAF Executive Committee members and CAF president Dr Patrice Motsepe will be in attendance to chair the session. This is a clear sign of trust in the country’s ability to host such a high-level meeting,” Karia said.

He added that the meeting represents CAF’s highest decision-making organ and that its presence in Tanzania reflects growing confidence in the nation’s football administration.

Under Karia’s leadership, Tanzania has hosted the Africa Youth Championship, co-hosted the CHAN tournament last year, and will again co-host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) next year alongside Kenya and Uganda. At club level, Tanzanian teams have also been performing well in CAF competitions.

According to a CAF statement, the Dar es Salaam meeting will review key CAF regulations, including the Disciplinary Code.

CAF further said the objective of the meeting is to ensure its judicial bodies have stronger authority to impose firm and deterrent sanctions for serious violations of CAF statutes and regulations, as well as for conduct that damages the reputation, integrity, and global competitiveness of African football and CAF competitions.
