KILIMANJARO Drinking Water has already confirmed its vital role of hydration in the next edition of the Kilimanjaro Marathon 2026 which has already been launched.
This means that the giant water company will be marking 22 years of partnership with the Kilimanjaro Marathon, which is a source of pride, as Kilimanjaro Drinking Water continues its commitment to hydration as the marathon itself celebrates 24 years of existence.
The ongoing partnership reflects a shared connection to the iconic Mt. Kilimanjaro, which forms a breathtaking backdrop for the marathon route, now one of Africa’s most anticipated sporting events.
Christopher Loiruk, Head of Sales and Marketing at Bonite Bottlers, reflects on the company’s longstanding involvement with the big event that happens every year at the Moshi Cooperatives University (MoCU).
“The Kilimanjaro Marathon is a significant international event that attracts participants from both within Tanzania and abroad,” he says.
The marathon, according to Loiruk (pictured), not only promotes sports, but also highlights Tanzania’s rich tourism sector, with many visitors touring the area and drinking their water throughout their stay.
"Hydration is crucial for runners, particularly in a race as demanding as this. We are proud to provide Kilimanjaro Drinking Water and other Bonite Bottlers products at the various water stations to help participants maintain their energy levels and avoid dehydration,” Loiruk emphasizes.
As part of promoting sports and stay healthy, the Bonite Bottlers team is also actively involved in encouraging their employees and customers to participate in the marathon.
“We’ve all these years been supporting them with training gear and motivating them to participate in the marathon,”
He says most of them have been participating in other races to better prepare for the Kilimanjaro Marathon and that they are also looking forward to competing in next year’s Corporate Challenge, a title they have previously won.
This year’s sponsors include main sponsor Kilimanjaro Premium Lager in the 42.2 kilometers category, while YAS is the official sponsor of the Half Marathon (21 km), and CRDB Bank sponsors the 5 km Fun Run.
Official supporting sponsors are Kilimanjaro Drinking Water and TPC Sugar, while official partners are GardaWorld Security, Toyota Tanzania, Columbia Sportswear, Simba Cement, and ALAF Limited.
Official race suppliers are Salinero Hotel, Kibo Palace Hotel Arusha, and Keys Hotel Moshi.
Loiruk also praises the tireless efforts of the event organizers, the Kilimanjaro Marathon Company, for ensuring that the marathon continues to grow in scale and prestige each year.
“The event’s growing success speaks volumes about the quality of the organizers and their dedication to making the Kilimanjaro Marathon a world-class event hence our continued commitment,” he says.
As part of Kilimanjaro Marathon’s celebrations, the town of Moshi becomes a hub of activity during the marathon weekend, attracting thousands of runners and spectators alike.
This has to a large extent impacted the region economically as thousands of local and international runners flock in for the appealing event.
Looking ahead to the next edition of the marathon, which will take place on March 22, 2026, Loiruk encourages all participants to take care to stay hydrated.
“It’s important for runners to take advantage of the numerous hydration stations along the course to stay energized and refreshed. This is essential to completing the race successfully,” he urges.
With more than 12,000 runners expected to compete in next year’s event, the Kilimanjaro Marathon continues to grow as one of the premier events on the East African sports calendar.
As preparations for the event have started, registration is now open online at www.kilimanjaromarathon.com and via Mixx by Yas, and runners from around the world are encouraged to sign up for what promises to be another thrilling edition of the race.
For the Bonite Bottlers team, the partnership with the Kilimanjaro Marathon is about more than just brand visibility, it’s about contributing to a healthy, active community and supporting an event that brings people together from all corners of the globe.
“We are excited to continue supporting this great event and look forward to seeing thousands of runners from across the world take part in the 2026 Kilimanjaro Marathon,” Loiruk concludes.
The event is organized by Kilimanjaro Marathon Company Limited every year in Moshi while Wild Frontiers Events are responsible for all the inbound travel and international marketing of the event.
