YOUNG Africans will take on a struggling Ken Gold side in today's Premier League match at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.

The Jangwani Street boys thrashed Ethiopian side CBE 6-0 in the second leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round, which took place in Zanzibar on Saturday.

This win extended Young Africans' unbeaten streak to 20 matches across all competitions, following their last league defeat to Azam in March. During this run, they have recorded 17 victories and three draws.

After beating rivals Simba to win the Community Shield - gaining revenge after losing in the previous final - Young Africans began the defence of their Premier League crown with a 2-0 victory over Kagera Sugar.

Coach Miguel Gamondi (pictured) is again expected to make changes to his starting line-up after rotating his squad for the continental encounter.

Ken Gold on the other hand have lost all their four opening league games and are rock bottom of the table. They have been outscored 2-8 by their four opponents.

They are one of five Premier League teams without a victory in the early stages of the campaign. Coastal Union, JKT Tanzania, Tanzania Prisons and Pamba are the other Premier League teams without a win so far.

The newly promoted side began their first ever Premier League campaign with a 3-1 home defeat against Singida Black Stars. They then went down 2-1 to Fountain Gate before going down 1-0 to KMC and then losing 2-0 to Kagera Sugar.

The poor start led to the resignation of head coach Fikiri Elias, who has since been replaced by his predecessor Jumanne Chale.

Coach Chale, who guided Ken Gold to promotion, is now tasked with turning around their form but facing Young Africans is not the ideal start he would have liked.

Joshua Ibrahim is the top scorer for Ken Gold so far this season with two goals and he is set to operate as the centre forward once again, joining Herbert Lukindo and Mshamo Daud in attack.
