Tarura engages 22 contractors in road repair works worth 12.2bn/-

RURAL and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) in Tabora Region has signed 27 contracts worth 12.2bn/- with 22 contractors for road maintenance and improvement projects across seven councils.

During the signing ceremony yesterday, Tabora Regional Commissioner Paul Chacha warned contractors against fraudulent practices and delays in project completion.

"I will not tolerate any contractor who engages in fraudulent activities or delays completion of road maintenance project," he said.

He also urged residents to protect roads and refrain from damaging the valuable infrastructure for the benefit of the public.

Lusako Kilembe, TARURA regional manager announced that for the fiscal year 2024/25, the agency has been allocated 25.09bn/- for road maintenance and repairs from various budget sources.

Kilembe noted that 12.2bn/- from the budget will be dedicated to constructing and repairing the road network, which includes building culverts, installing street lights and maintaining roads across all seven councils in the region.

"Our goal is to ensure that all signed contracts are implemented promptly and by adhering to established regulations, laws and procedures," Kilembe said.
