LIBYAN giants Al Nasr have reached a full agreement with Simba SC to sign Tanzania international striker Kibu Denis, following the successful conclusion of personal terms between the player and the Benghazi based club.
The deal was finalized after Al Nasr on Monday, February 9, 2026, met with the player’s representatives and ironed out the remaining details, paving the way for the Taifa Stars forward to complete his move to Libya. With both club to club negotiations and personal terms now agreed, Kibu (pictured) is set to join Al Nasr ahead of the next phase of the Libyan Premier League season.
Simba had earlier made it clear that they were open to selling the striker, leaving the completion of personal terms as the final hurdle in the transfer. However, discussions with the player were delayed as Kibu was in Angola on club duty, representing Simba in their fifth round CAF Champions League group stage fixture. Talks resumed shortly after his return, leading to a swift breakthrough.
The transfer will see Simba pocket a reported fee of 300,000 US dollars (approximately Sh776 million) after agreeing to release the striker, whose contract with the Tanzanian giants had only five months remaining before expiry. The move allows Simba to cash in on the player rather than risk losing him for free at the end of the season.
Kibu’s agent, Carlos Sylivester, confirmed that all official communication regarding the transfer will come from Simba SC, emphasizing that the player remains under contract with the club until the deal is formally completed.
“Simba SC are Kibu Denis’ employers, so if there is anything concerning the player, it is the club that is in a position to issue an official statement,” Sylivester said when contacted for comment.
Kibu has been an important member of Simba’s squad since joining the club in 2021 from Mbeya City. During his four-and-a-half-year spell with the Msimbazi Reds, the striker featured prominently in domestic competitions and on the continental stage, helping the club maintain its status as one of East Africa’s football powerhouses.
Although his goal return this season has been modest, Kibu has still managed to make his mark in the CAF Champions League, scoring twice for Simba. Both goals came in the first round clash against Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs, where Simba cruised to a convincing 3-0 aggregate victory to advance to the group stages of the competition.
His move to Al Nasr presents a new chapter in his career and an opportunity to test himself in a different footballing environment. Al Nasr are currently enjoying an impressive campaign in the Libyan Premier League, sitting top of Group Four with a perfect record of seven wins from seven matches and a total of 21 points. The club is widely viewed as one of the favourites for the league title this season.
At Al Nasr, Kibu will reunite with familiar faces, including midfielder Fabrice Ngoma and striker Steven Mukwala, both of whom previously played alongside him at Simba before making their own moves to the Libyan club. The presence of former teammates is expected to ease his transition and help him settle quickly into the squad.
The transfer also means Kibu will be competing in the same league as another well-known Tanzanian football figure, Stephane Aziz Ki. The former Young Africans SC midfielder recently joined Al Ittihad from Moroccan giants Wydad AC, adding further star quality to the Libyan top flight and increasing interest in the league from East African football fans.
For Simba, Kibu’s departure is part of a broader reshaping of the squad as the club looks to balance competitiveness with financial sustainability. While his exit reduces attacking options in the short term, the transfer fee provides a timely boost and could be reinvested to strengthen other areas of the team.
An official announcement from Simba SC is expected in the coming days to confirm the completion of the deal, after which Kibu will be unveiled as the latest addition to Al Nasr’s title chasing squad.
