‎Firms partner to push national clean energy drive

IN supporting government’s drive to promote clean and safe cooking energy, TotalEnergies and Hisense have launched a special campaign encouraging the public to shift from unsafe fuels to modern technologies that safeguard both health and the environment.

The initiative forms part of the national clean energy agenda, which aims to ensure that by 2034, 80 per cent of Tanzanians are using clean cooking energy, particularly gas.
 ‎
‎Speaking at the campaign launch today, TotalEnergies Marketing Manager Caroline Kakwezi said the partnership demonstrates the private sector’s commitment to improving livelihoods through access to safe, affordable and modern energy solutions.
 ‎
‎She said the campaign encourages households to adopt TotalEnergies gas alongside modern Hisense cookers — a combination designed to enhance kitchen safety, convenience and energy efficiency.
 ‎
‎“This campaign runs until 7 April as our direct contribution to the national clean energy strategy. We want to see more households transitioning to safer cooking solutions,” she said.
 ‎
‎Under the promotion, customers who purchase a Hisense cooker from designated authorised outlets will receive a free 13kg TotalEnergies gas cylinder, easing the transition to clean energy.
 ‎
‎Hisense Tanzania Marketing and Sales Officer Oscar Kiwuyo said the campaign also seeks to expand access to modern cooking appliances, particularly as families prepare for Ramadan and Lent.
 ‎
‎In addition to the complimentary gas cylinder, customers will benefit from discounts on selected Hisense cookers, making the shift to clean energy more affordable across income groups.
 ‎
‎“Through this partnership, we are supporting Government and community efforts to move away from unsafe energy sources. We trust the quality of TotalEnergies gas just as we stand behind the safety and technology of our cookers,” he said.
 ‎
‎He added that Hisense cookers are designed with user-friendly technology to ensure efficient gas usage and low electricity consumption, addressing concerns about high power usage in modern appliances.
 ‎
‎ Kiwuyo also urged consumers to beware of counterfeit products and to purchase only from authorised outlets to guarantee genuine products that meet international standards and carry valid warranties.
