THREE envoys representing their countries in Tanzania yesterday paid courtesy call on CCM Secretary General Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi and offered their congratulatory messages following the recent endorsement of President Samia Suluhu Hassan as the party’s candidate in the General Election slated for October this year with Dr Nchimbi as her running mate.

A statement released yesterday by CCM said the messages also commended Dr Hussein Mwinyi for his endorsement as the candidate for President of Zanzibar.

According to the advisory, the messages were conveyed during separate meetings at CCM sub-headquarters in Dar es Salaam.

Ahmed Djellal, Algerian Ambassador to Tanzania, highlighted the historical ties between Algeria and Tanzania, noting Tanzania’s significant role in Africa’s liberation struggles.

He expressed admiration for President Samia, President Dr Mwinyi and Nchimbi, acknowledging their leadership and their party’s trust in them for the upcoming elections.

Ambassador Djellal further discussed the possibility of strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly through leadership exchange programmes and educational opportunities.

Bishwadip Dey, Indian High Commissioner to Tanzania, emphasized the growing relationship between India and Tanzania, particularly in trade, technology, healthcare and investment sectors.

He congratulated CCM for the decision to trust the leadership of President Samia, Dr Mwinyi, and Nchimbi, and praised the ongoing cooperation between the two nations.

Dr Nchimbi also met with Andrew Lentz, Chargé d'Affaires at US Embassy in Dar es Salaam and discussed the enduring ties between Tanzania and the United States.

Both sides expressed the desire to further enhance their cooperation in various fields. Lentz also offered his congratulations to President Samia, Dr Mwinyi, and Dr Nchimbi, extending his best wishes ahead of the upcoming elections.

Col. (rtd) Fred Mwesigye, Ugandan High Commissioner to Tanzania, conveyed congratulations from the government of Uganda and the ruling NRM party.

He emphasized Uganda’s respect for Tanzania’s historic role in Africa’s liberation.

Ambassador Mwesigye reaffirmed that the strong relations between the two countries would continue to grow, benefiting both nations' citizens in political, economic and regional cooperation.
