DODOMA Jiji have announced the appointment of Mecky Mexime as their new head coach.

The 47-year-old Tanzanian coach arrives from Singida Black Stars to replace Francis Baraza, who left Dodoma Jiji by mutual consent at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Mexime has signed a one-year contract, with Dodoma Jiji holding the option of an additional year. He will begin his new role immediately.

A former Mtibwa Sugar defender, Mexime also played for Taifa Stars in a nearly 20-year career.

His first taste of a coaching role came at Mtibwa Sugar. He then moved to Kagera Sugar where he spent five seasons.

Kagera Sugar and Mexime parted ways in October 2022 paving the way for his move to coaching Cambiasso Academy while also working as Ngorongoro Heroes assistant coach.

A year later Mexime returned to Kagera Sugar to replace Baraza during the 2022/23 campaign.

A series of poor results in the 2023/24 season saw him shown the exit door once again. He moved to Ihefu which later was rebranded to Singida Black Stars.

"I have arrived in Dodoma and I am now in the capital city of Tanzania. The country’s heartbeat is here right now. I believe I will work well. The people of Dodoma can expect good things from me because they want football and they also want results.

"I cannot succeed on my own, so you should give me cooperation. When you feel that you have something to advise please feel free to come. Your advice will be received. I believe we will work well together because I am at home in Dodoma. I'm married in Dodoma, so this is my town too," he said.

Mexime is Dodoma Jiji's fifth coaching appointment since the club gained their top-flight promotion in the 2020/21 season.

Dodoma Jiji are aiming to build upon a poor season, which saw them avoid the relegation playoffs by a mere goal difference on the last match day of the campaign under Baraza.
