STUDENTS at the University of Dodoma (UDOM) have innovated various systems to control examination leakage and facilitate selection of courses using artificial intelligence (AI).

Speaking at different occasions during the opening of Research and Innovation Week at the University’s Faculty of Computer Science, Informatics and Virtual Education yesterday, the students said innovation came after a series of challenges facing them.

UDOM Vice Chancellor Prof Lughano Kusiluka called upon the students to use their capabilities in research by addressing challenges and improving their economic status.

He said there is no reason for young graduates to roam the streets looking for a job. Instead, they should use their professions to become self-employed so that they can support themselves.

He said that students should use the research they did along with various innovations to develop systems that help the general public in addressing challenges.

“Use the education you got here to employ yourself; don't start walking around the streets looking for a job while you have education to help you start your own projects,” he said.

On the systems to prevent leakage of exams, he said it will help reduce the risks that students face.

He said the innovation week brought positive results as student’s showcased creativity as well as helped citizens in technology issues.

He called upon other universities to organize exhibitions to help the public recognize various innovations taking place within their premises.

One of the students, Irene Mawena, said the systems are meant to address the challenges which usually arise during examinations.

UDOM organises the innovation week whereby two days are dedicated for maintenance of electronic devices for residents of the city of Dodoma for free.
