The emergence of a standout figure among the leaders was evident as Paul Makonda, formerly the driving force behind the National Executive Committee (NEC), was now entrusted with the pivotal position of Arusha Regional Commissioner.

The momentous swearing-in ceremony occurred on April 4, 2024, at the grand State House in Dar es Salaam, and was graced by the presence of esteemed government officials and prominent leaders from various political parties.

In her address at the event, Samia emphasized that the reforms she has initiated are aimed at improving government efficiency and called upon the appointed leaders to uphold the commitments they had made.

In reference to Makonda, the President lauded his effective leadership during his time as the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam and as the Secretary for ideology, publicity, and training at the National Executive Committee (NEC).

She commended his exceptional contributions and highlighted the significant influence he had, expressing, "Your presence reinvigorated us. We were perhaps stagnant, but under your guidance, everything fell seamlessly into position."

Furthermore, she recognized his effective tenure as the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner and assigned him the responsibility of advancing the tourism and investment sectors in the Arusha Region, where he is presently based.

She emphasized, "Arusha accommodates numerous esteemed organizations, so it is essential that operations there are conducted seamlessly."

In a strategic maneuver to fortify its administrative structure, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) disclosed yesterday in Dodoma the appointments to several pivotal positions within its secretariat, ushering in a fresh chapter of leadership and foresight.

Notably, John Mongella, renowned for his previous role as the Arusha Regional Commissioner, now assumes the vital position of the party’s Deputy Secretary-General (Mainland), embodying a harmonious blend of experience and foresight.

Mongella's appointment in the NEC's department for ideology, publicity, and training signifies a strategic succession plan as he takes over from Anamringi Macha, who now serves as the distinguished Shinyanga Regional Commissioner.

The statement also discloses another significant appointment, with former Mwanza Regional Commissioner, Amos Makalla, assuming the crucial role of the NEC Secretary responsible for ideology, publicity, and training, a position previously held by Paul Makonda, who now serves as the Arusha Regional Commissioner.

Additionally, the announcement appoints Ally Hapi as the CCM Parents Wing General Secretary, filling the vacancy left by Gilbert Kalima's transition to Mkinga District Commissioner.

The statement further reveals the appointment of Jokate Mwegelo as the new CCM Youth Wing General Secretary, succeeding Fakii Lulandala, who now holds the esteemed position of Simanjiro District Commissioner.

Moreover, the NEC extends its resounding appreciation to both the union and isle governments led by Samia Suluhu Hassan and Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, respectively.
