MINISTER for Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development Jerry Silaa has directed land officers to use only two days in office per week and spend the other three days on site to ensure that the entire country is planned and surveyed.

He made the directive yesterday in Mbeya Region while launching a land clinic for residents to come and resolve their various land disputes.

Silaa said he had written a letter to the Minister of State in the President Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Mohamed Mchengerwa about the procedure for land officers to spend only two days a week in office and soon they will be given a letter with the instructions.

"I have directed that land officers stay in office only on Monday and Friday," he said.

"On other days, you should go to the site to plan and survey and everyone should work in their area; urban planners should plan, surveyors should survey,” he said.

He also asked land officers in the country to be fair by doing justice when they resolve land disputes.

Silaa insisted on working diligently to help the government reduce nuisances and unnecessary conflicts in various communities around the country.

Mbeya Regional Commissioner Juma Homera commended Silaa for serving the land sector well by resolving various conflicts in the country.

In the land clinic that is going on at Mkapa hall, residents of Mbeya Region get the service of being heard and resolution of various challenges related to land.

Since he was appointed to the position last year, Minister Silaa has been travelling to various regions to run land clinics meant to resolve land conflicts.
