OPD facelift project at MOI gets support

THE restoration of the Out Patients Department (OPD) and the reception area at the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) has given new impetus after being given iron sheets worth 35m/- to accomplish the project on time.

Speaking shortly after receiving the donation by ALAF Limited in Dar es Salaam yesterday Dr Antony Assey, MOI acting managing director lauded the support, saying: “It has come at the time when the institute needed most.”

He also applauded the roofing-making firm for the donation adding that it is a big shot in the arm to the massive renovation project that aims to give the facility a major facelift.

“The renovation will enable us to accommodate more patients and service that will enable us to serve our patients better care,” he said, adding that the renovation will ensure the OPD and reception are modernized.

He called on other institutions to emulate the same and support the facility in this and other projects.

Theresia Mmasy, ALAF Limited External Affairs Officer said: “This is part of the company’s initiative to support the community. This donation will go towards the renovation of the Out Patients Department (OPD) and the reception area.”

She added: “We are part of the community and our desire is to see people, who are also our customers getting better service that will be enabled by this renovation.” 

She lauded MOI for undertaking the project that will see more patients from all over Tanzania accommodated at the facility that has proven to be one of the best in the region.

“We pledge to continue supporting this and more similar initiatives for the betterment of the community,” she said.
