PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan is set to address and dissolve the 12th Parliament on June 27 this year.
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mussa Azzan Zungu revealed this here yesterday, adding that the President’s address will take place following Prime Minister’s speech on June 26, marking the conclusion of the 12th Parliament’s proceedings.
Zungu further announced that the Budget Session will officially begin on April 8, with the government’s budget to be presented on June 12.
Zungu explained that on March 10, the Parliamentary Standing Committees will commence their sessions, during which the government will submit to the Clerk of the National Assembly extracts from the budget books, along with the financial projections for the 2025/26 fiscal year, in line with parliamentary regulations.
“On March 15, a full parliamentary session will be held whereby the Minister for Planning and Investment will present the 2025/26 Financial Plan while the Minister for Finance will present the proposed government budget, outlining the scale and limitations of the budget for the 2025/26 financial year,” he said.
He also noted that on March 12, the sectoral committees will begin visits to assess the implementation of projects allocated funding for the financial year ending on June 30, 2025.
“On April 2, consultations between the leadership committee, the budget committee, and the government will commence, addressing various matters arising during the discussions on ministry activities,” Zungu said.
