PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has lauded President Samia Suluhu Hassan's efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties between Tanzania and its partner countries, highlighting the significant benefits the relationships have brought to the nation.
Majaliwa made the remarks in Dar es Salaam, yesterday during a meeting with a delegation of European Union (EU) Members of Parliament from the Committee on Cooperation and Development.
“Since taking office, President Samia has led efforts to build strong relationships with various countries, which has earned our nation great respect and opened up businesses and investment opportunities,” Majaliwa said.
The Prime Minister also emphasised the European Union's vital role as a partner in Tanzania’s businesses and investment sectors.
"Tanzania highly values the economic and democratic cooperation with the European Union,” he said, noting that trade with EU member countries had grown steadily, with Tanzania benefiting from increased investments in various sectors.
“European Union investments in agriculture, energy, infrastructure, mining, and tourism have significantly increased. We applaud President Samia Suluhu Hassan for fostering this partnership,” he said.
European Parliament member Barry Andrews also praised the Tanzanian government for its achievements in improving the lives of its citizens, particularly in health, education, and infrastructure.
“Tanzania has made impressive strides in implementing international sustainable development agreements, including improving access to quality healthcare and education,” Andrews said.
He assured that the European Union would remain a key development partner for Tanzania, supporting the country's efforts to provide quality services to its citizens.
“Over the past 20 years, Tanzania has made remarkable progress in social services, with improved transportation infrastructure contributing to economic growth. Congratulations on these achievements,” Andrews remarked.
The 14-member EU parliamentary delegation is on a three-day official visit to Tanzania, where they will meet with government leaders, development partners, and beneficiaries of EU-supported projects.
