SIMBA SC will learn their next CAF Confederation Cup opponents on today, February 20, when the quarter-final draw for both the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Champions League takes place in Doha, Qatar.

The highly anticipated draw will not only determine the quarter-final matchups but also outline the potential semi-final pairings for both continental competitions.

The Confederation Cup quarter-final matches are scheduled for April 2 and April 9, 2025.

Simba, the only team from East and Central Africa to reach the group stage this season, will be represented at the draw by the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Zubeda Sakuru.

She will be accompanied by the club’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally. The event is set to begin at 4:00 PM Tanzanian time.

The Tanzanian giants secured their place in the knockout stage after topping Group A with 13 points from six matches, recording four wins, one draw, and one loss. They finished ahead of Algeria’s CS Constantine, who accumulated 12 points.

As group winners, Simba will face one of the runners-up from Group B, C, or D. Their potential opponents include Egypt’s Al Masry, Cote d’Ivoire’s ASEC Mimosas, and South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC.

Having consistently reached the quarter-finals of CAF competitions over the past six seasons, Simba are determined to go even further this time. The club has set its sights on reaching the final and lifting the trophy, a feat that would mark a historic achievement in their continental campaign.

The quarter-finalists in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup include Zamalek SC (Egypt), the defending champions, alongside ASEC Mimosas (Côte d’Ivoire), Al Masry (Egypt), CS Constantine (Algeria), RS Berkane (Morocco), Simba SC (Tanzania), Stellenbosch FC (South Africa), and USM Alger (Algeria).

Meanwhile, the CAF Champions League quarter-final lineup features some of Africa’s biggest clubs, including Al Ahly (Egypt), Al Hilal (Sudan), AS FAR (Morocco), Esperance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Orlando Pirates (South Africa), Pyramids FC (Egypt), and MC Alger (Algeria).

The first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals is set for April 1 and April 8, 2025.

The stakes are high, with substantial prize money on the line. The winners of the CAF Champions League will receive USD 4,000,000, while the CAF Confederation Cup champions will take home USD 2,000,000

Simba’s ambitions are clear as they prepare to take on Africa’s best, aiming to make history and cement their status as one of the continent’s elite clubs.
