PAMBA Jiji Football Club continue to strengthen their squad in preparations for their return to the Tanzania Mainland Premier League by signing Kenyan central defender Christopher Oruchum on a two-year deal.

Pamba have released most of the players from last season's Championship League team as they aim to build a competitive squad for the upcoming season and embark on a long run in top-flight football.

Oruchum joins the newly promoted Premier League side Pamba after parting ways with FKF Premier League side Posta Rangers, the club has announced. He returns to the fast-growing Tanzanian league after a brief stint with Namungo SC during the 2022/2023 season.

The former back-to-back FKFPL winner with Tusker, will now seek to advance his career in a competitive circuit after missing out on a reunion with AFC Leopards during the mid-season transfer window due to a recurring injury.

Pamba were promoted after finishing second in the Championship League with 67 points, three behind champions Kengold FC, and are looking to make a strong start in the top-flight league.

Oruchum is one of many new players they have brought on board. Other new signings include playmaker Ally Ramadhan from KMC, Congolese midfielder Paul Lindanda from Tabora United, goalkeeper Paul Kamtewe from Kengold, and free agent Kennedy Juma from Simba SC.

Oruchum expressed his enthusiasm for joining Pamba Jiji FC, highlighting his determination to succeed with the Mwanza-based team.

"I'm delighted to be back in Tanzania, with a fast-growing league. I feel that Pamba Jiji FC's project is perfect for me and offers a great opportunity to thrive in my career. The recruitment team is working tirelessly, and the project is exciting," said the defender.

"Last time it didn't go well for me here, but it is a fresh start to help the team and create a winning environment. I will give my all to the club and ensure we remain in the league for many years to come," he added.

Pamba also have secured the services of veteran goalkeeper trainer Razack Siwa, who previously managed Bandari, Tabora United, Mtibwa Sugar, and Young Africans.

The club also hired coach Goran Kuponovic on a one-year deal to bring experience to their technical bench, replacing Mbwana Makata, who guided them to the promotion.

As they continue to build a strong team, Pamba aim to survive in the Premier League next season, marking their first attempt at top-flight football after over 20 years in lower-tier football.
