RELEGATION-THREATENED KenGold Football Club is set to unveil its new head coach, Vladislav Heric, during today’s Premier League match against Kagera Sugar at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.
KenGold’s director, Kenneth Mwambugu, confirmed in an interview that all paperwork has been completed and that the Serbian tactician is ready to take charge.
Heric (pictured), a coach with vast experience in African football, has signed a six-month contract, with the primary objective of steering KenGold away from relegation.
“We have finalized everything, and we expect our new head coach, Vladislav Heric, to be on the technical bench when we host Kagera Sugar. His number one target is to guide the team to safety,” said Mwambugu.
He further explained that while survival remains the immediate focus, the club is also working on long-term goals to build a stronger squad for the future.
“The contract is renewable, subject to the team’s performance in the league,” he added.
KenGold currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table with 10 points from 19 matches. However, Mwambugu remains optimistic about the club’s chances of avoiding the drop.
“No team has been relegated yet. We are confident that KenGold will remain in the Premier League. We have seven home games and four away matches left, and we will work hard to maximize points at home.
“Additionally, we have brought in experienced players, and if you look at our performances in the second round, we are showing signs of improvement. We believe we are heading in the right direction,” he stated.
Heric, who holds a degree in Physical Education and a UEFA A License, has already assessed the squad and is pleased with the overall quality of the players. However, he acknowledges that the team’s main challenge lies in the final third, particularly in converting chances.
“We need to improve our finishing. The team creates opportunities, but we are struggling to convert them into goals. That will be our main focus,” Heric was quoted as saying.
The Serbian coach has previously worked with various clubs in South Africa, bringing a wealth of experience to his new role at KenGold.
