THE Tanzania Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (TEMESA) has been urged to enhance its revenue collection strategies across its centres nationwide to improve its financial capacity to complete its projects.

Dr Charles Msonde, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, made the remarks during a recent visit to TEMESA headquarters in Dar es Salaam.

His visit followed directives from Works Minister Innocent Bashungwa, who tasked him with monitoring the agency's performance and ensuring that projects are executed to the highest standards.

During his visit, Dr Msonde encouraged TEMESA to adopt modern revenue collection methods, emphasizing that efficient systems would enhance client services and enable better management of ferry operations.

“It is crucial to ensure that every shilling collected is used effectively for development of the agency and the public. This is a great opportunity for TEMESA to demonstrate its efficiency and build public trust. We expect to see positive changes in revenue collection and the services provided,” he stated.

Addressing TEMESA leaders and engineers, Dr Msonde highlighted the importance of properly executing tasks to meet client needs.

He urged leaders from all centres to learn from the strategies employed in the Dar es Salaam centres, viewing this as a vital opportunity for the growth of the mechanical and electrical sectors.

“I have spoken to several drivers and institutions receiving services from TEMESA here in Dar es Salaam, particularly regarding vehicle maintenance, and they have expressed their satisfaction with the services provided,” he said.

“Customer service has improved, and vehicle inspections are conducted promptly. It’s important to commend our staff, especially in Dar es Salaam region for their enhanced performance. I urge all regions across the country to emulate the exemplary work of TEMESA in Dar es Salaam.”

Dr Msonde also called for quick solutions to the challenges it faces, instructing all staff to prioritize quality in service delivery to meet public needs and improve operational efficiency.
