A DETAILED analysis of 2,384 reviews written by safari-goers and international safari experts has just determined the top 50 best safari parks on the African continent.

And the winner is Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, which takes the first position as Africa’s top safari park for 2024, according to an official statement from Anita Kovalevska of SafariBookings.com.

Ruaha National Park which celebrates its 60th Birthday has also entered into the list for the first time, taking the 4th Position.

Also in the top ten listing is Katavi, another Tanzanian National Park at number 10.

Tanzania has essentially four entries in the 2024 winners; Serengeti at Number One, Ruaha at Number Four, the Ngorongoro Crater at Number 9 and Katavi closing the Top Ten.

SafariBookings.com, the largest online marketplace for African safaris, conducted its annual study to determine the 50 best African safari parks for 2024.

For the fifth consecutive time, Serengeti National Park in Tanzania has emerged the clear winner, which according to Safari Bookings this should not come as a surprise to global travel and tourism enthusiasts.

The Serengeti received an overall rating of 4.85 out of 5, which was significantly higher than every other park.

A total of 1,239 reviews were contributed to the study by safari tourists from 74 countries.

The winners are Serengeti National Park of Tanzania in first position; Sabi Sanda Private Game Reserve of South Africa, coming second; South Luangwa National Park (Zambia); Ruaha National Park (Tanzania) and Okavango Delta (Botswana).

Others are Chobe National Park of Botswana; Moremi Game Reserve (Botswana); Maasai Mara Game Reserve (Kenya); Ngorongoro Crater (Tanzania) and Katavi National Park in Tanzania.

The remaining 1,145 park reviews were written by renowned international safari industry experts, including guidebook authors working with Lonely Planet, Rough Guides, Frommer’s, Bradt Travel Guides and Footprint.

It was agreed that Serengeti National Park is the poster child for the East African safari.

This vast park, one of Africa’s largest, has an astonishing array of wildlife that ranges across landscapes and habitats of singular beauty.

The annual migration of 2.5 million wildebeest and zebras through the park captures much attention, and rightly so, as one of nature’s greatest spectacles.

But the Serengeti is a remarkable destination year-round, even when the herds move on.

The Serengeti’s fifth successive victory as Africa’s best safari park is a remarkable and thoroughly deserved achievement.

This is especially the case given the high standard of competition in Tanzania and farther afield – across East and southern Africa.

In total 196 parks in 15 African countries were included in the study.

Countries covered include Botswana, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Only parks known for classic wildlife-viewing safaris were considered.

Parks mostly known for scenery or gorilla, or chimpanzee tracking (and not other wildlife) were not included.

Also, parks with less than 9 reviews were excluded from the Top 50 ranking.
