THE National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has received accolades from the Kingdom of Eswatini following a successful visit aimed at learning from Tanzania’s exemplary social security initiatives.

The delegation from Eswatini, led by Mabulala Maseko, Minister of Public Service, Members of Parliament, and professionals from the PSPF Fund, expressed admiration for the robust systems and achievements of NSSF.

Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office responsible for Labor, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities, Patrobas Katambi, commended NSSF’s resilience and capability to pay benefits to its members during a meeting at the NSSF offices in Dar es Salaam.

He highlighted the significant strides made under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, particularly the digitization of operations, which has enhanced member convenience and efficiency.

“The visit by the Eswatini delegation underscores the international recognition of NSSF’s achievements in social security provision. We are proud of our transformation journey from the NPF provident fund to the NSSF, our robust investment strategies, and our commitment to member services,” stated Katambi.

The visiting minister Maseko expressed satisfaction with the depth of knowledge gained from Tanzania’s experience.

“We are here to learn and adopt best practices that ensure sustainable social security systems in our country. Tanzania’s success in reducing poverty and promoting economic growth through NSSF is commendable and serves as a benchmark for Africa,” he remarked.

NSSF Director General, Masha Mshomba, highlighted the areas of interest for the Eswatini delegation, including membership registration, contribution collection, investments, and efficient benefit disbursement.

“They are impressed with our journey and the meticulous steps taken to achieve operational excellence. This knowledge exchange will pave the way for similar successes in Eswatini,” Mshomba explained.

Chairman of the PSPF Board of Swaziland, Sammy Dlamini, acknowledged the value gained from observing NSSF’s operations.

“We have learned invaluable lessons from Tanzania’s NSSF, and we look forward to implementing these strategies to enhance our social security framework back home,” Dlamini affirmed.

The visit concluded with a commitment to continued collaboration between Tanzania and Eswatini in strengthening social security systems for the benefit of citizens and national development.
