The incident has sparked debate over the challenges facing the BRT service, with many passengers frequently complaining about bus delays and severe congestion, especially during morning hours.

Chaos erupted at the Kimara Temboni Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) station following alleged violations of the passenger queueing system.

The incident occurred today, February 25, 2025, at around 8:40 AM when passengers broke the official queue and formed a new line after the bus they were rushing to board became full.

This led to a confrontation between passengers and BRT transport officers, with some commuters arguing that they should not be forced to follow a strict boarding procedure.

During the scuffle, one passenger was injured after being beaten by BRT officers in collaboration with the driver of the bus, which was registered under plate number T 544 DWR.

A Nipashe Digital reporter, who was among the passengers at the station, witnessed the incident. One commuter attempted to calm the situation by urging the officers and the driver to take the assaulted passenger to a police station instead of resorting to violence. However, the bus driver got out of the vehicle and grabbed the passenger who had made the suggestion, further escalating the tension.

The incident has sparked debate over the challenges facing the BRT service, with many passengers frequently complaining about bus delays and severe congestion, especially during morning hours.

Concerns have been raised over some public officers taking the law into their own hands and using excessive force, which contradicts the principles of providing citizen-centered services.
