THE ruling party, CCM, has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing and strengthening both domestic and international cooperation.
CCM Secretary-General, Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, made the remarks during separate meetings with the ambassadors of South Korea, Norway, and the United Kingdom at the party's sub-Headquarters Lumumba, Dar es Salaam, yesterday.
Dr Nchimbi said CCM will strengthen its role in overseeing the government to maintain strong relations with various nations and institutions, both within and outside the country, with the ultimate goal of fostering national development.
In his discussion with the South Korean Ambassador to Tanzania, Ahn Eunju, Dr Nchimbi emphasized the importance of strengthening the historic ties between Tanzania and South Korea, particularly in the areas of economic development and technology.
Currently, Tanzania benefits from a $2.5 billion concessional loan from South Korea for projects in education, health, and infrastructure, including a major initiative—the construction of the Bagamoyo Fishing Port, valued at $156.5 million. Additionally, the two countries are enhancing cooperation in the mining sector, particularly in research and the extraction of strategic minerals such as nickel and lithium.
During his meeting with the Norwegian Ambassador to Tanzania, Tones Tinnes, Dr Nchimbi highlighted Norway's role as a key development partner for Tanzania, with a relationship built on strong foundations over many decades.
As part of this cooperation, Norway is working alongside Tanzania on projects aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change, particularly in the agriculture, energy, water, and health sectors.
Similarly, in his discussions with the British High Commissioner to Tanzania, Marianne Louise Young, Dr Nchimbi emphasized the long-standing historical ties between Tanzania and the United Kingdom, with a focus on ensuring mutual economic and social benefits for both nations under the Labour-led government.
Throughout their meetings with the CCM Secretary-General, the ambassadors commended the resolutions of the CCM Special National Congress, which nominated President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan as the CCM presidential candidate for the United Republic of Tanzania, Ambassador Nchimbi as the running mate, and Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi as the presidential candidate for Zanzibar.
