Ride-hailing app appoints new country manager for Tanzania

RIDE-hailing app—Bolt has appointed Dimmy Kanyankole as the new Country Manager for the transport firm in Tanzania.

In a statement issued yesterday in Dar es Salaam, the global mobility platform said that the strategic move is part of the company’s continued commitment to enhancing its operations and customer experience in the region.

According to Bolt, Dimmy is revenue driven business leader with a track record in business development, performance marketing, distribution, commercial operations and team management. He brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record working with Pan African renewable energy and Fintech leaders such as Engie and Cellulant.

“Dimmy has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of the market dynamics, making him the perfect fit for this pivotal role,” the statement reads in part.

 Before joining Bolt, Dimmy was the Group Head of Retail Marketing at Cellulant, Africa’s leading Fintech Company. He was leading a Retail Function responsible for overall product growth in 6 African markets--Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria & Zambia. 

In this role, he was responsible for merchants (SME) acquisition and activation, product growth & overall revenue growth. Prior to that, he served as a Group Head of Activation- driving Billpay & Checkout products, where he was responsible for hundreds of global and local merchants across Africa. He also helped Engie (former Mobisol) cement their position as a leading renewable energy company in the region.

Under Dimmy’s leadership, Bolt aims to further solidify its presence in Tanzania, focusing on innovation, safety, and customer satisfaction. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the company continues to launch several new initiatives designed to improve service delivery and expand its reach across the country. Recently, Bolt Tanzania launched its Driver Engagement Centre in efforts to enhance its driver relations and address drivers’ expectations in terms of handling their concerns.
