THE Electrical Transmission, Distribution, Construction and Maintenance Company (ETDCO)- a subsidiary company of Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco)- has said that the 132 kv strategic project transmitting electricity from Tabora to Katavi Region is set for completion this year.

The project which is expected to end power woes in Katavi has reached 67 percent of implementation, according to ETDCO. The region currently depends on generators for its electricity.

Sadock Mugendi, acting ETDCO General Manager of, said yesterday that the goal of the strategic project is to ensure that Katavi Region is connected to national grid for reliable electricity.

He said that completion of the project will end the cost incurred by Tanesco to buy diesel used to run generators used to generate electricity in Katavi Region.

Mugendi said that the company implements projects of the Rural Energy Agency (REA) which are in various stages across the country.
