ANNADIL Burhani Cricket Club has lifted the 2024 Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) Dar T20 Cup Division B1 title following a five-wicket victory over Unisoft Rising Stars in the final recently.

The Mustafa Lukmanji-led Annadil Burhani put on a stellar bowling showing to humble the stubborn Unisoft Rising Stars in the clash at the Leaders Club venue in Dar es Salaam.

Unisoft Rising Stars - led by Amritbir Singh - took the crease first and wound up their innings with 116/10 in 20 overs.

Mohamed Simba turned out to be the club's performer with the best batting showing having scored 31 runs.

The batting squad was not quite convincing during the early stages, given some of the reliable cricketers experienced short stays.

Opener Johnson David had a rather disappointing day at the crease, ending three runs short of two digits.

His fellow opener, Singh, stayed a bit longer to make his way back with a mere 12 runs.

The openers' exit saw Unisoft Rising Stars reach 25-2 after 4.3 overs, which meant the fellow cricketers had to improve their showing to have a chance of ending the innings with bigger figures.

Simba saw Unisoft Rising Stars reach 72-5 once the hardworking batsman was dismissed in the 13th over.

The batting team's Kelvin Anjelo and Joseph Teegal fought to notch more runs following two short stays by Sachin Patil and Ravikumar Reddy.

Anjelo made his way back with 15 runs, and Teegal chipped in with 13 runs.

Vijay Anbzhagan propelled Unisoft Rising Stars to 107-9 once he exited the crease with his 10 runs with seven balls left.

Ten extras leaked by Annadil Burhani's bowling unit offered a slight relief to Unisoft Rising Stars' search for a respectable total.

Firoz Dahodwala orchestrated Annadil Burhani's bowling attack, ending with 3-11 and a 2.75 economy rate.

Fellow bowlers Adnan Zariwala, Murtaza Kaderbhai, and Matinal Mahammadali also did well to restrict Unisoft Rising Stars' figure to a manageable total.

The trio garnered two wickets each, seeing to it that Annadil Burhani has a less stressful task of mounting the 117-run chase to garner victory.

Annadil Burhani went on to reach the target with relative ease after securing 120/5 with 16 balls remaining.

Opening batsman Mufaddal Seifuddin had a great game with the bat, giving the batting squad a good start with his 35 runs.

He duly made up for a less convincing outing that fellow opener Lukmanji faced, as the latter was dismissed with just five runs.

Aliasger Pongwe, who scored 15 runs, and Zariwala, who ended with 22 runs, saw Annadil Burhani pushing for a successful chase.

Annadil Burhani stood at 98-5 once Zariwala left the crease in the 16th over, leaving the club with a somewhat easier mission.

Kaderbhai, who scored nine runs not out, forged a sixth-wicket stand with Mahammadali, who scored 20 runs not out, to guide Annadil Burhani to the triumph with calculated knocks.

Even though Unisoft Rising Stars' Patil took 2-23, while David posted 2-14, the duo's spirited showing did little to contain Annadil Burhani's batting unit.

Firoz Dahodwala (Annadil Burhani) walked away with the Player of the Tournament honour.

Simba (Unisoft Rising Stars) laid his hands on the showdown's Best Batsman prize.

Nikunj Sharma (Unisoft Rising Stars) secured the Best Bowler gong, and Dahodwala (Annadil Burhani) got the final Man of the Match prize.
