A Toyota Rav4 and an Esther Luxury bus involved in a deadly head-on collision in Kilimanjaro, leaving three people dead on February 1, 2025.

THREE people died after a Toyota RAV4 they were traveling in collided head-on with an Esther Luxury passenger bus in Kilimanjaro today, Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Acting Kilimanjaro Regional Fire and Rescue commander, Jeremiah Mkomagi, said the accident occurred at Mdawi area in Moshi District.

“The accident occurred this morning at Mdawi, where a Toyota Rav4 carrying three passengers collided head-on with an Esther Luxury bus traveling from Moshi to Dar es Salaam, resulting in their immediate deaths,” he said.

He attributed the accident to careless overtaking by the Rav4 driver, who attempted to pass other vehicles without proper caution, leading to the fatal crash.

Mkomagi confirmed that there were no injuries among the bus passengers. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Mawenzi Regional Referral Hospital.
