RENOWNED Tanzanian doctor Prof. Kaushik Ramaiya has won the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025, recognising his significant contributions to public health in Tanzania and globally.
In a statement issued yesterday in Dar es Salaam, Mahmoud Mringo, Vice Chairman of the Association of Private Health Facilities in Tanzania (APHFTA), expressed pride in Prof. Kaushik’s achievements, describing it as a victory for the health sector and Tanzania.
The Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, presented by the President of India, honours overseas Indians for their outstanding contributions. Prof. Kaushik received the award during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, in recognition of his groundbreaking work in healthcare and international collaboration.
Prof. Kaushik’s contributions extend beyond Tanzania, influencing global healthcare systems. His innovative vision and commitment to professional excellence have inspired many, said an APHFTA Vice-President.
Dr Rachael Nungu, Programme Manager of the Tanzania Diabetes Association (TDA), commended Prof. Kaushik for his remarkable societal contributions, stating that his recognition was a source of pride for TDA, APHFTA, and the global healthcare community.
For his part, Prof. Kaushik expressed gratitude to his patients, healthcare stakeholders, the government, and the community for their support. He encouraged fellow doctors to persevere in their efforts, emphasising that their dedication would ultimately be rewarded.
The Ministry of Health also congratulated Prof. Kaushik, noting that the international award further acknowledges his impactful work.
