CCM Secretary General Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi has said that the government will continue to prioritise strengthening international relations and diplomacy to boost the economy and enhance development.

He expressed the sentiments yesterday during separate meetings with ambassadors from Brazil and India, as well as the Head of Foreign Affairs Department of Mozambique’s ruling party FRELIMO and Resident Director of Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) in Tanzania.

Dr Nchimbi said that friendship and diplomatic relations should serve as key means of enhancing bilateral cooperation globally between countries and through various international platforms.

He stated that one of the key priorities in the CCM manifesto is to enhance international relations, particularly through economic diplomacy.

“This aims to strengthen the economy, improve development and facilitate exchanges in leadership and democracy,” he said.

During talks with Brazilian envoy Gustavo Martins Nogueira, both leaders expressed their commitment to improving relations between Tanzania and Brazil for mutual benefit, particularly in health, agriculture and sports.

In discussions with Indian High Commissioner Bishwadip Dey, Dr Nchimbi highlighted the importance of maintaining strategic cooperation between the two nations in technology, trade and education, noting India’s significant advancements in these areas.

During a meeting with Alcinda Antonio de Abreu, Head of the International Relations Department of FRELIMO, both sides agreed to honour and maintain the long-standing friendship and solidarity between Tanzania and Mozambique, a tradition rooted in their shared struggle for political liberation in Southern Africa.

The current focus, they noted, is on economic liberation and improving the livelihoods of their people.

During a courtesy call by Christian Denzin, Resident Director of FES in Tanzania, both parties agreed to continue their long-standing cooperation, particularly in strengthening leadership and democracy through various training programmes.
