CCM Secretary for Ideology, Publicity and Training Amoss Makalla has said that the party takes no chances when it comes to retaining power and is fully prepared to secure a landslide victory in this year's local government elections.
Makalla made the remarks in Dar es Salaam at the weekend while addressing residents of Kibamba Constituency as part of his ongoing campaign meetings for village, mtaa and hamlet elections scheduled for November 27.
He said the party was actively campaigning, having officially launched its campaigns on November 20 across all regions and expressed confidence that CCM candidates would emerge victorious by a significant margin.
"In this year’s local government election we aim for a landslide victory. The way CCM is prepared, it’s safe to say the future is promising," he said.
He emphasized the importance of the election, noting that CCM treats it with great significance because the role of a political party is to take and hold power which starts with winning local government elections.
"The aim of a registered political party is to ensure it holds power. Preaching about going to heaven is the responsibility of religious leaders. Recognizing the importance of holding power, CCM has fielded candidates at 100 percent: there is no mtaa, village or hamlet without our candidate," he said.
With only three days remaining in the campaign period, Makalla reiterated that CCM would close its campaigns as strongly as it launched the same, having made good preparations
"Since we launched our campaigns, they have been progressing well, with thousands of opposition supporters returning to CCM. Even candidates from other parties have expressed interest in joining CCM. We will conclude our campaigns just as powerfully as we began," he said.
