Exim Bank Tanzania has officially concluded its three-month-long digital campaign, ‘Tap Tap Utoboe,’ by awarding the grand prizes to the winners of the final draw.

The top prize, a brand-new Mazda CX-5, was awarded to the first-place winner, while the second-place winner received a TVS Bajaj, and the third-place winner took home a Boxer BMX motorbike. The campaign aimed to encourage Exim Bank customers to use mobile and online platforms for their transactions.

The lucky winners—Geofrey Muganyizi, Irene Dominick, and Bhavesh Gorecha—were announced during the grand draw held at Exim Bank's headquarters in Dar es Salaam on September 13, under the supervision of the Gaming Board of Tanzania.

Overjoyed with his win, Geofrey Muganyizi, the first-place prize recipient, remarked, "I honestly never imagined I could win a brand-new car just by doing my transactions through mobile and online banking at no extra cost. Most other lotteries require you to make some kind of payment to enter, but this campaign has truly been different."

Speaking at the event, Exim Bank Tanzania’s Head of Retail and SME Banking, Andrew Lyimo, highlighted the campaign’s success. "Since the launch of this campaign in June, over 200 customers have won cash prizes, with 10 weekly winners receiving TZS 50,000 each and 10 monthly winners receiving TZS 100,000 throughout the campaign. Today, we are thrilled to award the grand prizes to our final winners," he said.

"As announced earlier, our first-place winner, Mr. Geofrey Muganyizi, will receive a brand-new Mazda CX-5, which comes fully fueled and with one-year comprehensive insurance. The second-place winner, Irene Dominick, will be awarded a TVS Bajaj, and the third-place winner, Bhavesh Gorecha, will take home a Boxer BMX motorbike. Both vehicles also come fully fueled and insured for one year," added Andrew.

Commenting further on the success of the campaign, Stanley Kafu, Exim Bank’s Head of Marketing and Communications, said, "The ‘Tap Tap Utoboe’ campaign has exceeded our expectations by increasing both awareness and usage of our digital banking services. We are pleased to see a significant rise in digital transactions, showcasing that our customers have embraced the convenience and efficiency of these services."

how technology can revolutionize the way our customers interact with financial services. We’ve successfully attracted both new and existing customers by offering them the chance to win exciting prizes, while supporting our broader goal of promoting Tanzania’s digital economy," noted Silas.

The ‘Tap Tap Utoboe’ campaign was part of Exim Bank's ongoing efforts to promote electronic transactions through mobile and online platforms. These efforts align with the Bank of Tanzania's (BOT) strategic push to advance the use of digital financial systems and promote a cashless economy.
