Celebrating over 13 years of partnership with the Kilimanjaro Marathon is a source of pride, as Kilimanjaro Water continues its commitment to hydration and wellness. This ensures that participants can perform at their best next year as they conquer one of Africa’s most scenic marathon events, set to take place on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the Moshi Cooperative University (MoCU).
Kilimanjaro Drinking Water, produced by Bonite Bottlers in Moshi, remains a key partner of the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager International Marathon. This collaboration spans more than 13 years of the event's 23-year history.
The ongoing partnership reflects a shared connection to the iconic Mt. Kilimanjaro, which forms a breathtaking backdrop for the marathon route, now one of Africa’s most anticipated sporting events.
Christopher Loiruk, Head of Sales and Marketing at Bonite Bottlers, reflects on the company’s longstanding involvement with the marathon.
“The Kilimanjaro Marathon is a significant international event that attracts participants from both within Tanzania and abroad,”, he says adding that;
“This makes it especially meaningful for us, as Kilimanjaro Water is enjoyed by both locals and tourists who visit our beautiful country,” he says.
The marathon not only promotes sports but also highlights Tanzania’s rich tourism sector, with many visitors touring the area and drinking our water throughout their stay,” Loiruk shares.
For more than a decade, Kilimanjaro Water has been stationed at strategic points along the marathon route, ensuring runners stay hydrated throughout the race.
"Hydration is crucial for runners, particularly in a race as demanding as this. We are proud to provide Kilimanjaro Drinking Water and other Bonite Bottlers products at the various water stations to help participants maintain their energy levels and avoid dehydration,” Loiruk emphasizes.
As part of promoting sports and staying healthy, the Bonite Bottlers team is also actively involved in encouraging their employees and customers to participate in the marathon.
“We’ve been supporting them with training gear and motivating them to compete in the lead-up to the marathon,”
“Many have been participating in other races to better prepare for the Kilimanjaro Marathon,” Loiruk notes, adding that the company is also looking forward to competing in next year’s Corporate Challenge, a title they have previously won.
In addition to its long-term commitment to the event, Kilimanjaro Water is proud to work alongside other major sponsors, including Kilimanjaro Premium Lager (the main sponsor for the 42km race), and TIGO (21km). “The event’s growing success speaks volumes about the quality of the organizers and their dedication to making the Kilimanjaro Marathon a world-class event,” he says.
As part of the Kilimanjaro Marathon’s celebrations, the town of Moshi becomes a hub of activity during the marathon weekend, attracting thousands of runners and spectators alike.
This has to a large extent impacted the region economically as thousands of local and international runners flock in for the appealing event.
Looking ahead to the next edition of the marathon, which will take place on February 23, 2025, Loiruk encourages all participants to take care to stay hydrated.
“It’s important for runners to take advantage of the numerous hydration stations along the course to stay energized and refreshed. This is essential to completing the race successfully,” he urges.
With more than 12,000 runners expected to compete in next year’s event, the Kilimanjaro Marathon continues to grow as one of the premier events on the East African sports calendar.
