EIGHT cyclists from Nairobi, Kenya, took four days to reach Kilimanjaro Region to deliver special school bags made from plastic to students.

These bags were distributed to students at Kilimanjaro International Airport Primary School in Kilimanjaro Region.

Speaking during the reception of the cyclists and the distribution of the bags, KLM Manager for Tanzania, Rajat Kumar, stated that the initiative to make plastic bags is part of their environmental conservation strategy.

Rajat Kumar, Air France-KLM’s Country Manager in Tanzania, helps a student at Tanzania's Kilimanjaro International Airport Primary School wear his new bag made from recycled billboard vinyl. The bags were produced and donated in an Air France-KLM initiative that seeks to underscore the importance of education and environmental conservation in local communities.
He said the bags are made from plastic bottles used on the airline's flights.

"These cyclists, who took four days to travel from Nairobi to Kilimanjaro, are joining other communities in the environmental conservation efforts, as we do at KLM," said Kumar.

He added that Tanzania is the second African country to receive these bags, with Kenya being the first, where the bags were donated to Muthangari Primary School in Nairobi in February of this year.

The cyclists are expected to begin their journey back to Nairobi after completing this special trip.
