SIMBA SC midfielder Augustine Okejepha is brimming with confidence ahead of the new season, following a productive pre-season training camp in Ismailia, Egypt.

The 20-year-old Nigerian has set his sights on delivering standout performances as he targets league and continental titles with the Tanzanian soccer giants.

The former Rivers United star, who was named the Nigerian Premier Football League MVP last season, has made a swift impact since joining Simba. He showcased his talent with a goal in the club’s recent pre-season victory over Canal SC.

Okejepha's impressive form comes on the heels of a successful campaign in Nigeria, where he was also twice named in the CAF Confederation Cup Team of the Week.

Simba will be eager to reclaim the Mainland Premier League title after finishing third last season, just behind Azam on goal difference.

Fresh from a standout performance in the Nigerian Premier League, Okejepha has set his sights on conquering Tanzanian football with Simba.

With Simba set to compete in the CAF Confederations Cup alongside Coastal Union, while Young Africans and Azam FC will represent Tanzania in the CAF Champions League, Okejepha is eager to make his mark on the continental stage.

Determined to help Simba reclaim the Mainland Premier League title from arch-rivals Young Africans, the Nigerian international expressed his ambition and belief in the team’s capabilities.

"I'm aware of the club's desire to regain the league title and the CAF Confederations Cup, and my personal goal aligns perfectly with that. We have a talented young squad capable of achieving great things. Simba is a top-tier club with a highly competitive training environment. We aim to maintain our position among Africa's elite and continue to strive for excellence," he said.

As the new season approaches, Okejepha is determined to replicate his MVP-winning form and become a key player for Simba.

"To achieve our goals, we must showcase our best football in the Community Shield tournament. Personal glory is secondary to team success, and I'm confident we can deliver impressive performances,” he said.

The midfielder is expected to be a key player for Simba in the upcoming season, with his impressive pre-season form putting him in contention for a starting spot alongside either Fabrice Ngoma or Debora Mavambo.

Simba's midfield is strong with locals Mzamiru Yassin and Yusuph Kagoma also competing for starting places.

Before the highly anticipated Community Shield clash against arch-rivals Young Africans on August 8, Simba will face Rwandan champions APR in a friendly match on August 3 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
