SIMBA SC fresh acquisition winger Joshua Mutale has asserted his desire to leave a mark a the club during this transition of many new entries in the quest to retain dominance in the Tanzania mainland premier league.
Mutale arrived from Zambian league outfits Power Dynamos and signed a three year deal which will see him stay with Wekundu wa Msimbazi until June 2027.
Last season was a disappointment for Simba. They finished a lowly third in the league behind Young Africans and Azam, and their cup dreams were shattered in all three competitions: the Federation Cup, CAF Champions League, and African Football League.
After falling short Simba aim to make a statement in the CAF Confederations Cup as they aim for glory in the continental tier as well as winning domestic cups.
Determined to bounce back, Simba are currently in Ismailia, Egypt, for a rigorous three-week pre-season camp. They will face off against five Egyptian teams in friendly matches to sharpen their skills before tackling a demanding schedule of five competitions next season.
Simba SC's new winger, Joshua Mutale, arrives with a hunger to succeed, following in the footsteps of Zambian greats who have donned the red and white.
"In recent years, Zambia has had outrageous players at Simba who have contributed to the club's success, the likes of Moses Phiri and Clatous Chama, one of the greatest players in club history, have all done their part, and now it's my time to contribute to what I have inherited."
Mutale's talent and work ethic are his driving forces. "I believe in my talent and hard work," he declared, that's what has always driven me to bring success to the club.
"Simba is known for winning titles and challenging in the CAF interclub competitions every season. This is why I'm excited to bring my A-game to the team."
The passionate Simba fanbase has already captured Mutale's heart. "Even before I arrived here, Simba fans have been so great to me," he revealed.
"When we played against Simba while I was at Power Dynamos, after my wonderful performance, they had many messages for me on social media, which was good."
"Social media is widely used here in Tanzania, and for their love and support, I feel like I owe them a debt. So far, the pre-season training camp is going well, and we can't wait to produce good results on the field and live up to their expectations."
Simba SC's busy season kicks off with the Community Shield on August 8th-11th, followed by their pursuit of the NBC Premier League title a week later.
In September, the action intensifies as Simba enters the CAF Confederation Cup. Having received a bye in the early rounds, they will face the winner between Zanzibar's Uhamiaji and Libya's Federation Cup champions in the group stage playoffs.
