PAMBA Jiji FC's search for a home victory continues as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Dodoma Jiji FC at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza on Saturday. This result marks their second consecutive draw in the Premier League, following a similar outcome in their season opener against Tanzania Prisons at the same venue.

Returning to the Premier League after a 23-year absence, Pamba Jiji have struggled to score at their new home ground, CCM Kirumba Stadium, having previously played at Nyamagana Stadium.

Despite their inability to find the net, Pamba Jiji's coach, Goran Kopunovic, expressed optimism about the team’s performance.

"The match was very tough; Dodoma Jiji is a strong opponent. Although we didn’t win, my players followed the technical instructions well. I’m confident that with time, we will secure better results and move up the league standings," Kopunovic said.

Kopunovic praised the team’s performance in the second half, noting their control of the game and the numerous chances they created.

"Being a new team, we need more time to train and for the players to build chemistry. I believe we will improve with time," he added.

Looking ahead, Pamba Jiji will face Singida Black Stars on September 15. Singida Black Stars have won both of their opening matches, posing a significant challenge for Pamba Jiji.

"We have three weeks to prepare for the next match. We will analyze our mistakes and address them. We’re aware of the tough competition ahead," Kopunovic said.

The draw against Dodoma Jiji FC, who had previously lost 1-0 to Mashujaa FC, earned them their first point in the Premier League.

The game featured several key moments and crucial saves, particularly from Dodoma Jiji’s goalkeeper, Mohamed Mohamed, who played a vital role in maintaining the draw.

A highlight for Pamba Jiji was the return of striker George Mpole, who made his Premier League comeback after nearly a year on the sidelines.

Mpole, who came on as a substitute in the 45th minute, made a significant impact with a powerful shot that hit the crossbar and another that was deflected by the goalkeeper, resulting in a corner kick.

His performance earned him the Man of the Match Award, presented by the Premier League sponsors, NBC Bank.

Pamba Jiji’s upcoming fixtures will be crucial as they aim for their first win. Their next five matches include games against Singida Black Stars on September 15, Mashujaa FC on September 21, and challenging away matches against Coastal Union FC, Young Africans, and Azam FC.

With a series of tough matches on the horizon, Pamba Jiji FC will need to refine their strategies and build on their recent performances to achieve their goal of climbing the Premier League table.
