KENGOLD, currently facing the threat of relegation from the Premier League, is hoping for a mid-season reset to avoid the nightmare of dropping to the Second Division.
After their promotion to the Premier League last season, the Mbeya-based side has struggled, sitting at the bottom of the table, 11 points adrift from safety.
In response to their precarious position, the club has embarked on an extensive overhaul of both their playing and technical units.
The dramatic changes have seen the release of several players, including Steven Mganga, Amir Njeru, James Msuva, Adam Uledi, Casto Posta, Paul Materazzi, Asanga Stalone, and Salum Iddrisa, among others.
This clearout is part of a strategic effort to bring in fresh faces with the hope of securing survival in the top-flight.
To bolster the squad, KenGold has brought in a number of experienced players. Former Young Africans and Simba attacking midfielder Bernard Morrison, who last played for AS Far Rabat in Morocco, and Obrey Chirwa, formerly of Kagera Sugar, are among the high-profile arrivals.
Additionally, the club has signed Zawadi Mauya, a former Kagera and Young Africans player.
Other notable signings include Emmanuel Asante from Namungo, Mubashid Seidu (Ghana), Kyala Lassa (Zambia), Elnest Kwofie (Ghana), and several others from both local and international backgrounds.
This includes players such as Kelvin Yondani, Mohamed Yusuph (Dodoma Jiji), Mathias Juviliani, and Thompson Unachi (Nigeria), all of whom are expected to strengthen the squad significantly.
They are also in the process of introducing a new head coach, Vladslav Heric, a Serbian national who previously led South African side Venda FC, as well as other clubs such as Chippa United, Cape Town and Free State Stars.
KenGold's bold move in the transfer market reflects their determination to avoid relegation and maintain their status in the top division of Tanzanian football.
Time will tell whether this gamble pays off, but with a strong influx of talent, they are aiming to turn their fortunes around.
