PARK Mobile Lions' cricketers have ended their run in the 2024 Petrofuel TCA Caravans T20 Cup with their heads held high, having garnered a 22-run thrashing of Balakrishna Foundation Aces in Dar es Salaam last weekend.

After both teams were eliminated from the Petrofuel TCA Caravans T20 Cup, Park Mobile Lions came up against Balakrishna Foundation Aces in a match that served as a third-place playoff and a chance for pride.

Park Mobile Lions, still in high spirits despite missing out on the Super 4 qualification the day before, were eager for the challenge ahead.

Balakrishna Foundation Aces won the toss and chose to field first. The outfit's disciplined bowling attack posed difficulties for Park Mobile Lions' batsmen and consistently took wickets.

However, Mohamad Jawed, a stalwart for Park Mobile Lions, once again stood tall with a defiant 73 runs off just 51 balls.

Medium pacer Salum Jumbe and pace bowler Ally Mpeka starred with three and two wickets for Balakrishna Foundation Aces as Park Mobile Lions reached 153/5 after 20 overs.

In response, Balakrishna Foundation Aces, whose batting had been inconsistent throughout the tournament, struggled to build partnerships and lost wickets regularly.

Nassib Kelvin Mapunda was the top run-getter with 31 runs from 28 balls for the batting side. Salum Jumbe (20 runs), Aisah Chibanda (22 runs), skipper Asif Butt (18 runs), Hamza Ally (12 runs), and Ankit Baghel (13 runs) as well concluded with two digits.

Kashif Ahmad, Akhtar Shaikh, and Mohamad Jawed claimed two wickets each for Park Mobile Lions, as the side's bowling unit efficiently thwarted Balakrishna Foundation Aces' charge.

Balakrishna Foundation Aces ultimately fell short by 22 runs, having so far amassed 131/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Jawed's all-round performance earned him the Ras Logistics Man of the Match award. Kashif Ahmad's superb bowling spell of four overs, conceding just 14 runs and including a maiden over, was recognized as the Medinova Moment of the Match.
