Generics Gymkhana's Arman Khan (R) receives the Ras Logistics Man of the Match award from the Country Manager of Aurobindo Pharmacy, Vipin Abraham

GENERICS Gymkhana cricketers have boosted their quest for a successful run in the 2024 Petrofuel TCA Caravans T20 Cup tournament after garnering a 54-run thrashing of Econo Lodge Lions last weekend.

The tie at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) venue had seen Generics Gymkhana, now defying expectations, bat first after losing the toss to Econo Lodge Lions.

Arman Khan shone once more for the clash's hosts, scoring 63 runs off 42 deliveries, and was efficiently supported by Mohammed Yunus who contributed 38 off 20.

The two cricketers' batting virtuosity ensured Generics Gymkhana set a challenging target of 169 runs, as they wound their innings up with an impressive 168/8 in 20 overs.

Atif Salim, Abdulsamad Ahmed, and Abdullah Imtiyaz took two wickets each for Econo Lodge Lions as the performers strived to prevent Generics Gymkhana from setting up a bigger target.

In reply, disciplined bowling showcased by Generics Gymkhana restricted the Atif Salim-led Econo Lodge Lions, who fell short by 54 runs and concluded their tournament run.

Experienced all-rounder Ahmed's unbeaten 59 runs off 49 deliveries was the standout performance for Econo Lodge Lions.

Khan was awarded the Ras Logistics Man of the Match for his impressive innings, while Ahmed's solid knocks earned him the Medinova Moment of the Match.

In the day's other clash, formidable Park Mobile Lions took on Azania Bank Pak Stars and unbeaten Park Mobile Lions won the toss and chose to field.

Openers Ejaz Aziz (20 off 13) and Kashif Ahmad (44 off 32) provided a solid start with a 36-run partnership for the batting squad.

However, Mohamad Jawad stole the show with an unbeaten 103 runs off just 52 balls, including 13 boundaries and four sixes, helping Park Mobile Lions register a formidable total of 195/5 in their 20 overs.

Despite playing for pride, Azania Bank Pak Stars struggled and fell short by 81 runs, having been bowled out for 114 runs in 19.5 overs.

Even though they put on a spirited showing during the chase, which witnessed Ali Ishaq (30 runs), Zahid Naveed (21 runs), skipper Muzamil Hussain (20 runs), Dharminder Singh (18 runs), and Maqsood Alam (13 runs) come up with two-digit figures, they could hardly live up to expectations.

Umar Shaikh starred with the ball for the resolute Park Mobile Lions, taking three wickets for just 19 runs in four overs. Fellow bowler Awais Abbas piled misery for Azania Bank Pak Stars having taken two wickets in three overs.

Mohamad Jawad's outstanding innings, on the one hand, earned him the Ras Logistics Man of the Match award.

Ishaq's impactful 20 runs in one over was, on the other hand, recognized as the Medinova Moment of the Match.
