BALAKRISHNA Foundation Aces boosted its pursuit of an impressive run in the 2024 Petrofuel TCA Caravans T20 Cup tournament following the club's eight-wicket victory over Azania Bank Pak Stars in Dar es Salaam last weekend.

The Asif Butt-led Balakrishna Foundation Aces chose to bowl first after winning the toss against Azania Bank Pak Stars during their encounter at the renowned Leaders Club venue in Kinondoni.

Balakrishna Aces needed a victory to keep their knockout stage's qualification hopes alive and they smoothly went on to realize their plan.

Azania Bank Pak Stars' opening batsman, Humayun Taj, started strongly, scoring 56 runs in 54 deliveries when the squad was put in to bat first.

However, he could not find a partner that would have supported him in setting a respectable target, therefore, Azania Bank Pak Stars fell for 109 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Arun Yadav was a Balakrishna Foundation Aces' cricketer who stood out amongst the club's bowlers with his four wickets giving away 21 runs in 3.4 overs.

Seasoned pace bowler Ally Mpeka also chipped successfully, given the pacer took three scalps giving away 20 runs in four overs.

Needing 110 runs to come out victorious, Balakrishna Foundation Aces lost Yadav for a duck early on in the chase, as the opening batsman was run out by veteran player Wahid Hussain.

Ankit Baghel, slotted in at number three, took matters into his own hands scoring an unbeaten 82 runs in just 39 deliveries- with his score including five sixes and eight boundaries.

The victory was ultimately achieved by Balakrishna Foundation Aces in just 10 overs- helping the cricketers improve their net run rate.

Undoubtedly, Baghel was adjudged the Ras Logistics Man of the Match for his explosive batting which catapulted Balakrishna Foundation Aces to the comprehensive win.

Yadav’s disciplined bowling efforts were regarded as the Medinova Specialised Polyclinic Moment of the Match.
