Tanga investors hail Samia for policy shift since 2021

INVESTORS in Tanga Region have lauded President Samia Suluhu Hassan for vast efforts to improve investment policies and regulations, creating a more favorable environment for local and foreign investors.

In separate interviews, investors expressed the view that under the current top leadership, Tanzania has become an increasingly attractive place for investment.

Firoz Talib, and entertainment specialist for some coastline hotels, noted that the region is experiencing a surge in key investments. "Investing in Tanzania is no longer a complicated process," he said. "President Samia has streamlined and expedited procedures, making the country an appealing destination for investors."

Major projects implemented by the current authorities in the region, including expansion of Tanga port, construction of the 18bn/- Mkomazi irrigation dam, setting up a science school for girls and the East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project (EACOP) have contributed to the region’s economic growth and spurred investment, he said.

The manager was hopeful on the impact of the president’s upcoming eight-day tour of the region, seeing it as a booster for potential investment activity.

Wu Chenglei, the Maweni Limestone Ltd deputy general manager, praised the president for introducing investor-friendly policies and simplifying investment processes. "The paperwork and protocols for investing in Tanzania have become much easier," he affirmed.

He also commended the newly refurbished Tanzania Investment Center (TIC), where investors can now process all necessary requirements under one roof and in a timely manner. The removal of some nuisance taxes and bureaucratic barriers has also made Tanzania a more attractive investment destination, he added.
