Samia dismisses three cabinet ministers, appoints new ones

PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has initiated sweeping changes, dismissing three ministers in a strategic cabinet reshuffle and implementing new appointments to strengthen her administration.

Chief Secretary Amb. Dr. Moses Kusiluka announced on July 21, 2024, that President Samia appointed Jerry Silaa as the new Minister for Information, Communication, and Information Technology, succeeding Nape Nnauye, who was relieved of his duties.

The statement also highlighted Deogratius Ndejembi's appointment as Minister of Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements Development. Previously, he served as Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, focusing on Labour, Employment, Youth, and Persons with Disability.

Ridhiwani Kikwete transitions to the role of Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, having previously served as Deputy Minister of State in the President’s Office, overseeing Public Service Management and Good Governance.

Ambassador Mahmoud Kombo, formerly Tanzania's ambassador to Italy, assumes the dual role of Member of Parliament and Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, succeeding January Makamba.

Furthermore, President Samia appointed Cosato Chumi as the new Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, replacing Ambassador Mbarouk Nassor Mbarouk, who will undertake a new assignment.

Deus Sangu joins the cabinet as Deputy Minister of State in the President’s Office, focusing on Public Service Management and Good Governance.

The statement further explained that Dennis Londo is appointed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, assuming direct responsibility for EAC affairs following Stephen Byabato's departure.
