PanAfrican Energy donates 500 cooking gas cylinders to promote clean cooking

In a significant move towards promoting clean cooking solutions, PanAfrican Energy Tanzania (PAET) is proud to announce the donation of 500 cooking gas cylinders and cookers. This initiative is part of a national drive to encourage the use of cleaner, safer, and more efficient cooking methods. The distribution plan includes 200 cylinders for Mara, and 100 each for Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Dodoma.

With a 20-year history of operations from Songo Songo Island, PAET is dedicated to providing safe, clean, reliable, and cost-efficient fuel for power generation, industrial applications, transportation, and secondary markets. The company is committed to reducing its environmental footprint, decreasing the emissions intensity of its operations, and playing a pivotal role in Tanzania’s transition towards a lower carbon economy. 

The donated cylinders were officially handed over to MP Janeth Masaburi in the presence of Deputy Minister Office of the Vice President Union and Environment, Khamis Hamza Chilo,who represented the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dotto Biteko.   “We are grateful to the President for her commendable efforts to ensure that we use clean cooking fuels. She has become a guiding light in Africa for her activism for clean cooking solutions. I also congratulate Hon. Janeth Masaburi for creating this event in Dar es Salaam district and thus support the President's agenda.  

MP Masaburi expressed her gratitude to all companies supporting the drive by saying, “

I would like to give special thanks to the President for this initiative that aims to reduce preventable deaths. Our motto translates as “Ashes Aside” and is in line with the president’s wish to assist Tanzanian women access alternative and safer fuels.” Hon. Masaburi went on to say, “I also give thanks to our supporters, including PanAfrican Energy Tanzania, who have helped us accomplish our goals. 

In line with the national clean cooking initiative launched by President H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, PAET views this contribution as a testament to its commitment to the Tanzanian people. By promoting clean cooking solutions, PAET aims to enhance health outcomes and environmental conditions in local communities.

Beyond supporting this clean cooking campaign, PAET has been actively investing in social initiatives on Songo Songo Island and Kilwa District. These initiatives, which include significant contributions to education and health sectors, reflect PAET’s commitment to improving local communities. 

Andrew Kashangaki, CSR Manager at PAET, commented, “We are delighted to support the national drive for clean cooking solutions and contribute to the well-being of Tanzanian communities. We consider it our duty to support the government and the Ministry of Energy in this endeavour.” 

The donated cylinders and cookers are being distributed to various groups and individuals across the country who are most vulnerable due to the use of unsafe fuels.
