ZANZIBAR President Dr Hussein Mwinyi has expressed satisfaction with the performance of Trade and Industrial Development Minister Omar Said Shabani, a member of the opposition-ACT Wazalendo.

He made the statement yesterday here at the handover of land for the construction of a pharmaceutical factory and a vehicle assembly plant at Dunga Zuze in Unguja South Region.

He noted that the minister’s performance has been impressive despite Shabani’s affiliation with the opposition.

“You are doing a very good and commendable job. I always advise appointees to not leave their positions without making a remarkable impact on people’s lives and Zanzibar in general,” he said.

Dr Mwinyi also said that the government, guided by the CCM election manifesto, has exceeded its industrial development goals.

He expressed commitment to continue making strides in industrial development if he secures a second term in the 2025 general election.

This is not the first time Dr Mwinyi has publicly praised ministers from the ACT-Wazalendo. He has previously commended both Shabani and Health Minister Nassor Ahmed Mazrui for their outstanding performance.
