THE government is set to begin conducting interviews to fill 14,648 teaching positions in primary and secondary schools across the country this month.
George Simbachawene, the Public Service Management and Good Governance state minister in the President’s Office, said here yesterday that the recruitment process will take six weeks, January 14 to February 24.
The recruitment is a key component of a wider plan to create 155,008 employment opportunities in the public service, in line with promises outlined in the ruling party’s 2020 election manifesto.
The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) will ensure that the exercise is conducted with fairness, equity and impartiality, he stated.
Shortlisted candidates need to prepare thoroughly as the recruitment process if competitive, he said, hinting at plans to hire vocational training trainees to meet evolving demands of public education initiatives.
“I encourage successful candidates to remain committed to professional development to fulfil their roles effectively in public service,” he further appealed.
Recruitment tests and interviews will be conducted in regions where the candidates resided, to reduce travel expenses, accommodation and other challenges.
Successful candidates will then be assigned to specific workstations and should be ready to serve in any village, district or region, regardless of where they applied from or currently reside, he emphasised.
Candidates to carry with them their original academic and birth certificates, as well as their recruitment numbers sent through the employment portal.
