The government, through various sectors, has been asked to facilitate the issuance of awards for multiple sectors in the Lake Zone to help recognize individuals with transformative contributions to society.

This request was made, on December 14, 2024, in Sengerema District, Mwanza Region, by development stakeholders including the Director of Eagle Entertainment Company, Hassan Kuku, during the issuance of Lake Zone Awards.

He said that these awards, which started at the district level but have now become regional awards in the Lake Zone, are now given to more than 30 people from different sectors.

“We are dedicated to giving awards to various stakeholders regardless of their area but considering what they have done in the community, including musicians, politicians, actors, government officials, journalists, music, video and film producers, entrepreneurs, and other groups,” said Kuku.

He said that despite these efforts, there is still a need for empowerment from various sectors including arts and music, administration, sports, information, and communication. Organizing these awards has required significant investment to help elevate the winners. He thus requested the government to lend a hand in the next phase to ensure they could offer something to enable the winners.

The Sengerema District Commissioner Senyi Ngaga, said the government recognizes the contribution of stakeholders in uplifting various industries and is ready to cooperate with them in ensuring they achieve their goals and plans.

“We are used to seeing people being recognized for their contributions after they have passed away, but by continuing to support these efforts, we will help many increase their efforts in their work and do even better,” said Ngaga.

Ngaga said the government continues with the implementation of various projects including the J.P. Magufuli Bridge and the establishment of a new mining site, which through these projects will help uplift youth activities and increase the pace of investment.

During the awards night, more than 30 winners from various sectors were awarded these special Lake Zone Awards, led by a special award given to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for Good Governance, aimed at recognizing her contribution in leading the nation and implementing various projects in a short period.
