AUTHORITIES in Coast Region have commended stakeholders for their efforts to support the education sector through various initiatives.

Kibiti District Commissioner Joseph Colombo expressed the sentiments during an event to receive over 130 desks donated by Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) and TotalEnergies Tanzania at Jaribuni Mpakani Primary School and Kitundu Primary School.

The contribution is part of a collaborative effort to improve education across the country.

The DC assured attendees that the desks would be well taken care of for the same to benefit more pupils, adding that Kibiti District has also benefited from several TEA projects, including construction of two classrooms for learners with special needs at Kitundu Primary School.

Getrude Mpangile, director of legal and corporate affairs at TotalEnergies Tanzania Ltd, noted that the 130 desks are part of a total of 200 desks, valued at 25.9m/-, donated to three schools in Coast and Dar es Salaam regions.

Jaribuni Mpakani Primary School and Kitundu Primary School each received 65 desks while Makuburi City Primary School in Dar es Salaam received 70 desks.

Mpangile expressed her hope that the support will inspire pupils to study hard, ultimately contributing to the success of the schools that received the desks.

Mwanahamisi Chambega, acting director of institutional services at TEA, reminded the schools to take good care of the donated desks.

"One of TEA's responsibilities is to secure financial resources from various stakeholders and distribute the same to education institutions to improve the learning and teaching environment. We urge schools to maintain the facilities," she said.
