CCM Kilimanjaro expels Pastor Godfrey Malisa over constitutional violations
CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in Kilimanjaro Region has expelled party cadre Pastor Godfrey Malisa from membership, effective today, February 10, 2025, over allegations of violating the party’s constitution and ethics.
Malisa’s dismissal follows his public statements opposing the decision made by CCM’s National General Assembly on January 19, 2025, claiming that the endorsement of President Samia Suluhu Hassan (Mainland) and Dr. Hussein Mwinyi (Zanzibar) as candidates was unconstitutional.
Pastor Malisa, who has previously vied for the presidency, speakership, and parliamentary positions, joined CCM in 2021 and was among nine cadres who contested for the party’s national chairmanship in 2022.
Speaking to the press today, February 10, 2025, CCM Kilimanjaro Secretary Merce Mollel stated that the decision was reached during a meeting of the party’s Regional Executive Committee.
