Tourism ambassador sets for 52nd Mt Kilimanjaro’s climb

Tanzania's tourism Goodwill Ambassador from the United States of America (USA), Macon Dunnagan will on February 17, this year start his 52nd up Mount Kilimanjaro Climb with a group of other eleven tourists from Canada and US , to promote the country’s tourism destinations across the world .

Macon DunnaganSpeaking with this paper in exclusive interview recently in Moshi, Dunnagan explained that, he is going to have two weeks special program of the mountain acclimatization through Mount Kilimanjaro’s Mweka route before starting his 52nd special climb, a move that aims at ensuring the safety and good mountain climbing exercise services of everyone on mountains.

The US national from Charlotte, North Carolina further explained that the move also aims to maintain control over mind and body while dealing with the major risks of hypothermia and Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).

“I started this program of high mountains acclimatization for myself last year with my professional mountain guide from ZARA tours, Edwin Kilawe, to make our body fit before starting our Mount Kilimanjaro and Meru expeditions, it has bear fruits,” he explained.

He added that high mountains acclimatization is vital for all mountain trekkers as it avoids high risks of high altitude mountain sickness to the mountain tourists and other trekkers.

“After two weeks of my high mountains acclimatization I will lead a group of eleven trekkers up Mount Kilimanjaro in our 6-Day special expedition during my 52nd Mount Kilimanjaro Climb through the Rongai route from February 17 to 22, this year,” the Tanzanian Envoy for tourism in the US further explained.

Apart from advertising the Tanzania's tourism destinations in Dallas, Texas and Washington Travel Shows in March this year, he will also have 2-Mount Kilimanjaro Climbs in June this year.

Dunnagan further added that, also the World Traveler, Podcaster, Amazon Bestselling Author, Empowerment Coach and a No-Nonsense Astrologer, Julie Zolfo will lead another group of trekkers from the US in their 9-Day Special Expedition through Northern Circuit route up Mount Kilimanjaro to commemorate International Women’s Day observed on March 8, every year.

Zolfo, an American national, joined Macon Dunnagan in his 51st special Mount Kilimanjaro Climb to its highest peak through Rongai route from 12 to 17 February last year.
