The new PATH's Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Annual Report for 2023 has highlighted the significant progress in representation and equity at the workplace.

According to the report, there is an improved achievement of gender equality at all levels of the organization for the first time since 2020, more women in executive leadership team, and a 25 percent increase in Black employees in the United States since 2021, showing PATH's commitment to racial equity and promoting a diverse workforce.

"Our 2023 DEI report fills me with pride," said Nikolaj Gilbert, PATH President and CEO. "It demonstrates our true commitment to a workplace where diversity thrives, equity matters, and inclusion is rooted. These are not just ideas—they drive our mission to advance health equity."

Levis Nderitu, Global Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at PATH, said; "We recognize that diversity is a catalyst for difference and impact. By bringing together people with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, there is an enhanced capacity for complex global health challenges”.

He said this diversity of thought enables the identification of diverse solutions, transformative change, global change, and the development of more effective and culturally appropriate health interventions.

He said DEI's commitment goes beyond creating jobs; it implies that the organization's work is consistent with serving the various communities it aims to support.

By embracing and speaking differently, we are better prepared to plan to implement health solutions that are innovative and equitable, and ultimately bring our mission of health equity to the world.

He added that many things are the expansion of Human Resources Groups, including the launch of Latinx at PATH and Asian at PATH, encouraging a strong sense of community and ownership among diverse employees, increasing Equity in Coordination Criteria, while more than 50 percent of projects reporting changes inequality in their work and stories of employees from our global offices and how they are taking action to create a more inclusive and collaborative workplace.

"This report is a labor of love from all of our colleagues and demonstrates our progress toward integrating DEI principles into our people, business practices, and public health programs. While we have made great strides, we recognize that leveling the playing field so everyone can thrive is an ongoing journey. We remain committed to continuous improvement and accountability in creating a more inclusive and equitable organization." said Nderitu
